The University of Iowa is building on its longstanding excellence in teaching, writing, and communication with the launch of a new Writing Enriched Curriculum (WEC) pilot program this fall in the Department of Anthropology and the Department of History. The pilot aims to create a model that can expand to additional departments and colleges in the coming years. To assist with this process, the UI’s Excellence in Teaching and Learning SPARC Work Group will assemble a team to explore how the curriculum could work across disciplines.

Barrett (Barry) W. Thomas will be appointed as senior vice provost in the University of Iowa Office of the Provost, recognizing his leadership and strategic contributions during the past year as associate provost for faculty and strategic operations. He will transition to the appointment as soon as a new associate provost for faculty is in place.

Four members of the University of Iowa Office of Student Financial Aid community received statewide recognition from the Iowa Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (IASFAA) for their contributions to student success, leadership, professional service, and higher education.
