As a new hire, the information you receive in the first few months can be overwhelming. The following checklists will guide you through your arrival and development on campus.

Orientation Opportunities
- Iowa New Faculty Orientation (INFO), a day of networking with key academic leaders. Learn about the university, strategies for student success and scholarship, and available resources. Attendance is optional but strongly encouraged, with programming designed to complement collegiate orientation programs. INFO is designed for individuals in their first faculty appointment.
- The Center for Teaching provides early-access pedagogical support and resources.

- Your college and department may also provide orientation opportunities which may be mandatory. Please connect with your local HR representative.
Important tasks to complete upon your arrival
- I-9 (Federally required employment authorization) - time sensitive; your HR representative will reach out to you to coordinate this process
- University ID Card - your key to accessing many services and facilities on campus
- Setup Two Step Login/Duo Mobile - multifactor authentication to protect your academic, personal, and financial information
- Log in to Employee Self-service
- Benefit Enrollment - As a new hire, you should receive an email from University Benefits to your uiowa.edu account within your first week. Don't hesitate to contact University Benefits if you do not receive it.

- Parking and Transportation - purchase parking permit through the Parking Portal; most parking lots are assigned through a waitlist
- Log into Employee Self Service to access:
- Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) - opportunity to lower taxable income and pay for qualified health care and/or dependent care expenses with pre-tax dollars
- Time Records/Paid Time Off - submit timely and accurate time records to help ensure timely and correct payments
- e-Personnel File - Policy Manual §7.1 governs access to faculty personnel files
- Hawk Alert/Emergency Notifications - review and update your settings; while email is required, text message is fastest way to receive an alert
- My Training - variety of online learning resources providing you access to courses, articles and lessons on your schedule
