For programs that are designed to meet or are advertised as meeting educational requirements for a specific professional license, U.S. Federal Regulations (34 CFR § 668.43) require the University of Iowa to disclose information regarding whether the program does or does not meet educational requirements for licensure in each U.S. state or territory (or if a determination has not yet been made). Some state licensing boards impose additional requirements beyond education, such as satisfactory performance on an examination, post-graduation experience, passing a criminal background check, etc.  The programmatic disclosures herein do not guarantee individual ability to meet other requirements unrelated to educational programming. There may also be additional requirements for maintenance of licensure, such as continuing education.

Licensure requirements vary by jurisdiction and are subject to change, as are other state laws or regulations that may affect your application for licensure. A student considering a program that leads to licensure should contact the licensing agency for the state or territory in which they intend to practice to confirm the most current requirements.

The American Psychological Association’s (APA) Commission on Accreditation (CoA) has approved the University of Iowa's School Psychology Program's “Intent to Apply” application and voted to provide public notice of the program’s intent to seek accreditation. Though not yet accredited by the APA, the program has developed its course offerings, sequence, research, and practical experiences to be in line with standards for accreditation in health service psychology. The program will apply for accreditation no later than May 2025.

Because it is new, the program is not yet credentialed with the Iowa Department of Education. Students who want to be eligible to practice in the state of Iowa must pass the Praxis II exam in school psychology and become nationally certified (attain the NCSP, Nationally Certified School Psychologist, credential).

A graduate of the program who does not already hold a teaching license must obtain a professional service license to practice in Iowa.

State boards determine licensure requirements, which may change at any time.

This program meets the educational requirements for licensure in Iowa.  Students may contact the program with questions about educational requirements for licensure in other U.S. states and territories.

State requirements are subject to change. Students should confirm licensing requirements directly with the jurisdiction in which they are interested in licensure.

The University of Iowa Perfusion Education Program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs upon the recommendation of the Accreditation Committee for Perfusion Education (AC-PE). Graduates are able to achieve certification in Clinical Perfusion by meeting specific educational and clinical requirements and satisfactory performance on the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion certification examination. Certification in cardiovascular perfusion is evidence that a perfusionist’s qualifications for operation of extracorporeal circulation equipment are validated by his/her peers. Certification is not intended to define requirements for employment, to gain special recognition or privileges, to define the scope of extracorporeal circulation, or to state who may not engage in cardiovascular perfusion. ABCP certification is a national certification and does not guarantee employment or licensure. Each state establishes its own criteria for licensure, where relevant.

Regulated profession:Pharmacist
Program informationWeb site   |   General Catalog
Accrediting body:Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE)
Licensing information by state/territory:National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP) Directory of State Boards of Pharmacy

The University of Iowa College of Pharmacy is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE). Graduates of the program are qualified to take two examinations required for licensure, the North American Pharmacists Licensure Examination (NAPLEX) and the Multistate Pharmacy Jurisprudence Examination (MPJE).  In addition to these exams, each state may have different licensure requirements.

The PharmD degree program, if successfully completed, meets the educational licensure or certification requirements in a state for practice of pharmacy. This determination is based on the educational and curricular requirements of each state for licensure (i.e., excluding any special, temporary licensure that may be granted). This does not imply that other requirements for licensure do not exist. The college cannot provide verification of an individual’s ability to meet licensure or certification requirements unrelated to its educational programming. Such individual determinations are made by state licensing boards, and are fact-specific determinations.
