Faculty Investigators
Position Summary
This is a pilot program to enhance the quality and efficiency of faculty misconduct investigations. Faculty investigators — in partnership with University Human Resources (UHR) representatives — will be charged with conducting investigations into alleged faculty violations of the Policy on Ethics and Academic Responsibility. The investigators will be housed in the Faculty Investigations Unit (FIU) within the Office of the Provost.
Responsibilities
- Work with Employee and Labor Relations (ELR) and the Associate Provost for Faculty (APF) to conduct investigations of alleged faculty violations of the Professional Ethics and Academic Responsibility policy.
- Undergo training related to the conduct of faculty related investigations.
Supervision
- The position will report to the APF, and ELR will oversee the day-to-day operations of the FIU.
Required Qualifications
- Hold the title of full professor in either the tenure, clinical, or instructional track at the University of Iowa.
- A record of personal integrity, good judgment, initiative, innovation, collaboration, and consensus-building.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of policies and processes of the university.
- Experience with personnel issues regarding faculty.
Appointment
The faculty investigator is an “at will” appointment. This is a 25% appointment beginning on or before January 1, 2025. Summer availability is required.
