Sandra (Sandy) Daack-Hirsch
Sandra (Sandy) Daack-Hirsch was named associate provost for faculty in September 2026. She received her BSN, MSN, and PhD from the University of Iowa. Before coming to the Office of the Provost, she served as executive associate dean and dean of faculty in the College of Nursing since 2021. She previously served as director of the college’s PhD program and as interim associate dean for graduate practice programs. She is recognized nationally and internationally for her expertise in clinical genetics and has consulted on numerous national projects and policies to promote the education and practice of nurses in genetics.
She brings extensive university-level leadership and shared governance experience to her new role. Daack-Hirsch served as president of the UI Faculty Senate in 2019-20 and co-chaired the university’s 2020-21 presidential search. She has contributed to university initatives focused on faculty success, teaching effectiveness, strategic planning, and faculty policies and procedures.
