Eva Latterner

Assistant Director, Center for Teaching
Biography

Eva oversees early career faculty support, including the Early Career Faculty Academy for new tenure-track professors and additional programming for all early-career faculty across campus. As the Center's curriculum lead, she serves as campus leader and liaison within Iowa’s Howard Hughes Medical Institute Inclusive Excellence 3 (HHMIie3) multi-institutional curriculum efforts. 

Through her participation in the Excellence in Teaching and Learning (ETL) Network and the Student Success Team, Eva builds opportunities for faculty across all tracks to grow as teachers and thrive as professionals at the university. She also collaborates across campus on initiatives related to generative AI in the classroom, course design, faculty peer mentorship, and formative classroom observation. 

Her scholarly interests include course design, curriculum design, writing pedagogy, critical university studies, and the history and culture of capitalism in the United States.

Prior to coming to Iowa, Eva worked as interim assistant director of the Writing and Rhetoric Program and co-director of the Inventory of Writing and Rhetoric Online Teaching Efficacy (i-WROTE) initiative at UVA.
