Seven University of Iowa faculty members have been invited to the National Academy of Medicine's (NAM) 2025 Emerging Leaders Forum, scheduled for April 8-9, 2025, in Washington, D.C.
The Emerging Leaders Forum is an invitation-only event that gathers exceptional early- and mid-career professionals who show remarkable promise, achievement, and leadership in biomedical science, health care, health policy, and related fields. Participants will engage in interdisciplinary workshops and discussions designed to stimulate innovative solutions to some of the most pressing challenges in health and medicine.
Each emerging leader must be nominated by a current NAM member. The UI faculty selected for the honor include:
- Sato Ashida, professor of community and behavioral health, College of Public Health
- Nai-Ching (Allison) Chi, associate professor of nursing, College of Nursing
- Sarah Nash, assistant professor of epidemiology, College of Public Health
- Susan Shen, assistant professor of psychiatry, Carver College of Medicine
- Nick Trapp, assistant professor of psychiatry, Carver College of Medicine
- Michelle Voss, associate professor of psychological and brain sciences, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences
- Jan Wessel, associate professor of psychological and brain sciences, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, and associate professor of neurology, Carver College of Medicine
Additionally, Natoshia Askelson, associate professor of community and behavioral health in the College of Public Health, will participate in a panel discussion titled "Urban and Rural Health: Addressing Challenges to Accessing Care".
