As you step into the DEO role, it is helpful to become familiar with your campus partners, within and outside of your college. Each college has an “About” link on their home page with links to collegiate leadership and contacts. If you’re not familiar with those individuals, you can explore the structure, roles, and contact information online. Additionally, there may be further in person events to meet with collegiate academic leaders and staff.  There are opportunities to meet and engage with university leadership in the DEO workshop series. Becoming familiar with the university administrative offices and leaders will allow you to better see your role as DEO in the wider campus context and will give you a better idea of whom you might need to connect with in your work leading your department. The DEO workshops also provide a forum to engage with fellow DEOs from  across campus and share experiences.
