Subject: Spring 2021 Teaching in Higher Education Travel Awards

The Council on Teaching seeks applications for the Spring 2021 Teaching in Higher Education Travel Award

The focus of this travel award is for faculty and staff to gain a better understanding of teaching in their discipline or trends in higher education in general (e.g., curriculum design, course design and delivery, pedagogical good practice, or assessment of learning) and then apply this new information to enhance teaching effectiveness at the University of Iowa. Since individuals may not be able to travel due to the COVID-19 situation this year, we are allowing these funds to be used towards registration fees related to attending a virtual/online conference (travel is not required in order to receive the award).  NOTE: the travel award is not intended to provide travel funds to those who wish to attend conferences/annual meetings to acquire or present new information or research advances in their disciplines and then incorporate that information into their teaching at the University of Iowa.

The Council on Teaching will review applications, not as they are received, but following this submission deadlines based on the date of travel:

  • Spring 2021 (January - May travel) submit applications by December 4, 2020

If you receive a spring 2021 travel award and are unable to complete the travel due to restrictions related to COVID-19, your award will be carried over to summer or fall 2021.   For the most up-to-date information on travel restrictions related to COVID-19 please visit https://coronavirus.uiowa.edu/.
