An instructor’s work to support student learning that extends beyond the classroom -- such as mentoring, community-engaged learning, or undergraduate research -- can contribute to assessment of teaching when instructors provide documentation of their support for student learning in these contexts.

We are working with the Office of Community Engagement, the Office of Undergraduate Research, the Associate Provost for Faculty, Mentoring@Iowa, and other campus partners to develop guidance for instructors on documenting, monitoring, and improving their support for student learning that extends beyond the classroom.
