Veterans Day 2013

The University of Iowa’s Military and Veteran Student Services in the Center for Diversity and Enrichment, in partnership with the University of Iowa Veterans Association (UIVA) student group, is hosting a full day of Veteran Vitality events for Veterans Day, November 11, 2013.

There are approximately 800 military veterans among the university’s faculty and staff in addition to over 500 students. While most of us are not aware of it, we interact with veterans every day, both in the classroom and in the office. This year, we are flipping the traditionally somber tone of Veterans Day on its head and returning to its original upbeat, celebratory feel with a Hawaiian celebration. In the attached flyer you will find multiple ways that you can join the fun and help us celebrate Veteran Vitality, be you a veteran, service member, or a veteran ally, while learning about the many faces of service through our 10 panels.

The day will begin at 11:00 am with a short program on the west side of the Capitol Building including the presentation of the color guard and the 6000-flag display. The Veteran Vitality Panel Series will be from 12:00-3:30pm in the Iowa Memorial Union, followed by the Veteran Vitality Luau.
