On Iowa! Volunteer Opportunity

Greetings, Hawkeye Colleagues.

In a few weeks, the On Iowa! 2015 program will be in full swing to welcome our campus community's newest students. We still have a variety of volunteer positions to fill during this very exciting -- and busy -- time of year.

If you are able to spare two to three hours between Tuesday, August 18 through Sunday, August 23 to assist and interact with members of the Class of 2019 and transfer students, please consider volunteering.

2015 Diversity Catalyst Awards

Please join us at The University of Iowa Diversity Catalyst Awards reception on Tuesday, April 28, 2015, in the Second Floor Ballroom, Iowa Memorial Union.

The event begins with a public reception at 3:00 pm, with remarks and  awards program beginning at 3:30pm. In addition to this year's Catalyst Award recipients, we will also honor student winners of the Alliant Energy/Erroll B. Davis, Jr. Achievement Award, as well as recipients of the Catalyst Seed Grant. Keynote remarks will be offered this year by Dan Reed, Vice President for Research and Economic Development.

With the Lola Lopes Award for Undergraduate Student Advocacy, the Office of the Provost each year honors a University of Iowa administrator, staff member, or faculty member (in a non-teaching role) who supports undergraduate education and serves as a strong, effective advocate for undergraduate students and the undergraduate experience.

UI State of Graduate Education address, March 3

UI Awarded Carnegie Community Engagement Classification

I am delighted to share with you the exciting news that the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching has selected the University of Iowa to receive its 2015 Community Engagement Classification.  In case you missed the announcement over the winter break (, I want to be sure to call your attention to this very important achievement.

Announcement re: UI degree offerings in Des Moines

I want to alert you to some very good news that will shortly be shared with the public, via a joint announcement by President Sally Mason and President Nancy Williams of AIB College of Business in Des Moines.

AIB--a nonprofit, private, four-year accredited college in Des Moines--is being gifted to the University of Iowa, and will become the University of Iowa Des Moines campus.
