Strategic Planning Open Forums

The university community and its constituents will be meeting over the next couple of months to outline the university's strategic plan moving into the future.  The Strategic Plan Development Group (SPDG) will host a number of open forums at which students, faculty, and staff can share their views on overarching strategies and goals they see as central to the university's mission.  On June 30, 2016 the SPDG will submit a strategic plan that reflects these strategies and goals to Provost Butler and Vice President Rocklin.  In the 2016-17 academic year Provost Butler will convene work groups

2nd Annual Theme Semester: "Just Living"

The University of Iowa is excited to begin its second annual Theme Semester "Just Living". This semester's focus will be on social justice and will allow for discussion and reflection on many related topics, including race, identity, environmental justice, educational access, housing and health disparities, and much more. The University of Iowa's academic mission is deeply connected to social justice, and we should be incorporating this topic in our coursework and units during the semester and beyond.

Reminder: all UI-owned laptops and tablets must be encrypted by Dec. 31

The Dec. 31 deadline for encrypting all university-owned laptops, tablets, and external storage devices is quickly approaching. Campus IT staff have been working hard on this project, and over 80% of portable devices are now encrypted. However, everyone’s cooperation is needed to achieve 100% compliance by the end of the calendar year, as required by the Board of Regents.

Mumps Information

Dear University of Iowa faculty,

We’ve seen the number of mumps cases on campus increase to more than 100.

Health officials are recommending that our students who are younger than 25, who are at the highest risk for mumps, receive a free third dose of the MMR vaccine. It’s an effort to help protect everyone from mumps and its complications, and to reduce the spread of the infection—not only on campus, but across the state and outside Iowa since Thanksgiving break is fast approaching.
