Nominations being accepted for Diversity Catalyst Award

Nominations for the 2018 Diversity Catalyst Award are now being accepted.  

Please take time to nominate those in your area who have gone above and beyond the scope of their jobs to promote diversity and inclusion on our campus. This is an excellent opportunity to highlight the work of the people and programs at the University of Iowa by nominating them for one of these prestigious awards. Nominations are due by January 29, 2018. 

Diversity Catalyst Seed Grant


The Chief Diversity Office is pleased to announce that we are accepting proposals for the Diversity Catalyst Seed Grant. The Diversity Catalyst Seed Grant supports projects and programs with an immediate impact enhancing the diversity goals of the University of Iowa's Strategic Plan 2016-2021. 

If your proposal will advance cross-cultural understanding, strengthen positive inter-group relations and promote a welcoming learning environment, and will benefit the campus directly, we would like to hear from you! 

International Travel Health Insurance - 2017-18

UI Faculty and Staff:


If you have plans to travel abroad, you need to know about the International Travel Health Insurance and Emergency Services Program, which has been adopted by the three Regent universities. The program is mandatory for faculty and staff who are traveling internationally on University business. It is also mandatory for students participating in study abroad programs or traveling independently for various purposes.


Update on Academic Organizational Structure 2020 Task Force

2017 On Iowa! Volunteer Opportunity

Greetings, Hawkeye Colleagues.

In five weeks, the 2017 On Iowa! program will be in full swing to welcome the Class of 2021 and new transfer students. The University of Iowa will be celebrating the seventh year of On Iowa! in what is embraced as a tradition to assist new undergraduate students in becoming more comfortable with their new environment prior to the first day of classes.

Week of "Phil" Activities

Next week we celebrate our generous UI donors with an annual series of campus-wide events highlighting the impact of their philanthropy ("Phil") and raising awareness on campus about the importance of private support in our public university.

Instead of just one "Phil's Day" this year, we've planned a weeklong series of events--and I hope you will join in! (See below for event details.)

New Executive Order

President Trump signed an executive order today that will impact visa processing abroad for international students and scholars, and will also impact some faculty, staff, and students traveling abroad. The new order becomes effective March 16, 2017.

For citizens of Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, and Yemen:

Ban on entry to the U.S.: the executive order bans entry for at least 90 days for nationals from Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, and Yemen.
