Call for Spring 2018 course fee requests

The University has implemented a workflow process to request new or revise existing course fees. Information about this process, including links to the Course Fee Policy, Course Fee Request Form, and Workflow Inbox, is available at https://wiki.uiowa.edu/display/mauihelp/course+fee+workflow.

 

Deadlines for submitting a new course fee, eliminating a course fee (or changing the amount of an existing course fee) are:

AY 2017-18 Promotion and Tenure Procedures

Over the next few months, departments and colleges will be involved in the process of arriving at recommendations for the awarding of tenure, and for promotions in all academic ranks.  The policies and procedures related to promotion and tenure are provided in the links below.

FERPA Training Requirements for Instructors (2017)

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) is a federal law that establishes confidentiality requirements and student rights to inspect and review education records.  All UI instructors, including TAs and Adjuncts, are required to complete the online FERPA training module and quiz at least once during their employment at the University.  After having completed the training, instructors will be required to attest to an Annual Certification Notice on January 1st of each year in UI Self-Service.  Further, anyone needing administrative access to student records information in MAUI, b

FY 2018 Salary Program

Instructions for implementing the 2017-18 Salary Program have been updated on the Human Resources website (http://hr.uiowa.edu/hr/salary).  As we continue the University’s on-campus budget development process for FY 2018, collegiate and administrative units are encouraged to make strategic financial resource allocation decisions. Salary adjustments for non-bargaining faculty and staff should be distributed differentially to individuals based upon performance and market competiveness demands.

Message following the conclusion of COGS contract negotiations: Graduate Assistant Employment

The collective bargaining process affecting graduate assistant employees between UE Local 896/COGS and the Board of Regents has concluded. It is important to note that until the current COGS contract expires on June 30, 2017, its terms of employment and benefits will remain in effect. Wages is the only provision contained in the 2017-19 collective bargaining agreement. The new two year contract (2017-19) provides graduate student employees minimum and returning salary rate increases of 1.1% each year.
