Summer 2014 Schedule

Over the past year, the campus has been involved in discussions about changes to the summer course schedule.  Provost Butler has now approved the changes that were recommended during this process.  In particular, for our regular on-campus classes, starting in Summer 2014:

  • There will be four session lengths
    • A four-week session that starts on the Monday after May Commencement, followed by an eight-week session
    • Two consecutive six week sessions, the first of which starts on the Monday after May commencement
  • Classes meet Monday through Thursday, with Fridays reserved for exams, workshops, room maintenance and other special events

This link (http://www.registrar.uiowa.edu/LinkClick.aspx?fileticket=0gLEdGls17A%3d&tabid=137&mid=800) will take you to a document that outlines some specific details that will be useful for the departmental administrators who schedule courses during the summer (please share with appropriate individuals).

Please feel free to e-mail me (beth-ingram@uiowa.edu) or Renee Houser (renee-houser@uiowa.edu) if you have any questions.  I especially appreciate all of the work done by Classroom Scheduling to make these changes possible, and all of the faculty and staff who contributed ideas and comments as these changes were planned.

Thank you.
