Office of the Provost 2014 New Faculty Orientation Events

The Office of the Provost will sponsor the following New Faculty Orientation events in August to welcome new faculty members who were hired since September 1, 2013 and hold at least a 50% appointment:

  • Provost Office New Faculty Orientation:  Tuesday, August 19, 2014, 8:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m., 2520D UCC Conference Center.  The agenda includes:  Welcome and Introduction to the University of Iowa, UI Benefits Enrollment, Campus Information Resource Fair, and Faculty Luncheon.

  • Faculty Members’ Role in Creating an Inclusive Campus Climate, including Preventing Sexual Harassment:  Tuesday, August 19, 2014, 1:00-2:00 p.m., 2520D UCC Conference Center.   This is an optional session which fulfills the requirement that all faculty members with a 50% or greater appointment complete a sexual harassment prevention education program within the first 60 days of employment.

  • The President and Provost’s New Faculty Welcome Reception:   Wednesday, August 20, 2014, 5:00-6:30 p.m., in the Fourth Floor Assembly Halls, Levitt Center for University Advancement.  Welcome from President Mason and Provost Butler at 5:30 p.m.  New faculty members and a guest are invited to attend the reception, which is also attended by their collegiate deans and other administrators.

The 2014 New Faculty Orientation draft agenda can be found on the Provost Office website: http://provost.uiowa.edu/faculty-development-new-faculty/.  New faculty members are also informed of the orientation in their offer letters and will receive additional information about the program as the date nears.

Thank you for assisting us in providing a warm welcome to new faculty members.  Please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions or suggestions:  diane-finnerty@uiowa.edu (email) or 335-3991 (phone).
