New Office of Teaching, Learning, & Technology

The Office of the Provost is pleased to announce the formation of a new Office of Teaching, Learning, & Technology, which is currently being organized and will be ready by the fall semester to meet the teaching, learning, and technology needs of faculty, instructors and teaching assistants.  Under the executive sponsorship of CIO Steve Fleagle and Associate Provost for Undergraduate Education Beth Ingram, three separate instructional support units on campus – the Center for Teaching, ITS Instructional Services and Evaluation and Examination Service – will be consolidated into this new office.  Senior Director Maggie Jesse will provide leadership of the new organization.

This reorganization is part of a campus strategy to support, develop, and encourage faculty and TA use of professional teaching and learning strategies.  We want the question “What academic learning experience do you want your students to have?” to be at the heart of what we do; that question spans pedagogy, faculty and TA professional development, facilities, and technology.

To help achieve our goals, this new unit will work with faculty to support and improve the teaching and learning environments at the University of Iowa, and will provide assessment support and opportunities to evaluate the effectiveness of efforts and initiatives in order to provide data-driven improvements.

Additional information and an opportunity to provide feedback about this merger can be found at:  http://teach.its.uiowa.edu.

Your feedback will be used to continue to improve the organizations that support the instructional needs of our campus.
