Highlights of recent/upcoming activity:

  • The University of Iowa is one of the top producers of Fulbright students for 2015-16, according to the lists released Monday, February 22 in the Chronicle of Higher Education.  Twelve University of Iowa students were awarded a Fulbright U.S. Student Program grant to conduct research, attend graduate school, undertake creative projects, or serve as English teaching assistants abroad in the 2015–16 academic year. This is the greatest number of placements the UI has ever secured in a single calendar year, resulting in a tied ranking for 27th on a list of peer institutions.  Read more at
  • Steve Fleagle shares a recent communication he sent to campus IT professionals, in which he provides an update on the OneIT initiative, along with links to news articles about several specific projects.  A few highlights from the update include:
    • The first of 16 OneIT projects has moved into the close-out phase - an important milestone for the OneIT initiative;
    • campus IT leaders held a retreat in early February and made significant progress on developing a vision for the future state of IT at the UI; and
    • the CIOs of the Regents universities are working together and with the Regents to create a Board-level IT policy for the three Regent universities.

Apr. 30 Deadline for affected employee groups to complete the “Annual Report of Outside Professional Activities and Interests” via the eCOI online disclosure system (  Employees required to complete the online annual disclosure are:
  • UI Health Care:  50% or greater Faculty, P&S, SEIU, and Merit Exempt
  • Faculty:  50% or greater Regular Track Faculty
  • Administrators with Faculty Appointments (i.e., FM jobcode), including Assoc/Asst Provost, Assoc VP, Assoc/Asst Dean, Director, Ombuds
  • P&S:  50% or greater among Pay Levels 7 and above
  • P&S:  50% or greater in Executive Classifications, including President, Exec VP & Provost, VPs, Dean, University Librarian
All UI researchers who are identified as “key personnel” on a UI routing form submitted to Sponsored Programs or an IRB application.
