Historic Civil Rights Mentoring Dinner

In honor of the 50th anniversary of the Civil Rights Act, the Chief Diversity Office is hosting an Historic Civil Rights Mentoring Dinner honoring civil rights activists who have done work on the University of Iowa campus during the last fifty years and students who are currently engaged in social justice work at the University of Iowa. The goal of the invitation-only event is to facilitate intergenerational dialogue about civil rights and civic engagement between “historic” civil rights activists and students activists. The event will take place on Monday, April 7, 2014 from 5:00-7:00pm in the Hawkinson Assembly Hall, Levitt Center, University of Iowa.

Please take time to nominate students in your area who are engaged in social justice activism on our campus or in the community. This is an excellent opportunity to honor the work of students at the University of Iowa by nominating them for the opportunity to attend this event. Nominations can be completed online at: http://survey.az1.qualtrics.com/SE/?SID=SV_eOGvIWUTUpUmvLD. Self nominations are welcome.

Nominations for the Historic Civil Rights Mentoring Dinner are due Wednesday, March 26, 2014.

Feel free to forward this or post it in your area to notify others. Please contact Megan Schwalm at 319-384-2704 or megan-schwalm@uiowa.edu with questions.
