Join us for WorldCanvass on Feb. 2 at the UI Stanley Museum of Art as we talk about the museum’s new home and new vision.
After the former home of the museum was so damaged by the flood of 2008 and it was unable to safely house the UI’s priceless art collection, the process of imagining a new space and raising the many millions of dollars it would take to build it began. Finally, in August 2022, the new UI Stanley Museum of Art opened to massive crowds and much acclaim.
Our guests will help us move beyond the surface of some of the museum’s most prized works to better understand their origin, their importance in the larger constellation of artistic movements, and their ability to engage the viewer in the language of artistic expression.
This program will take place from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the UI Stanley Museum of Art. All attendees are invited to a pre-show reception from 5 to 5:30 p.m. in the museum lobby.
