Capital Asset Management

The Capital Asset Management unit is designated to maintain accountability for all capitalized assets (equipment, software, etc.).  CBO’s should ensure that their units are familiar with the addition/deduction/transfer process of reporting capital assets.

  • Physical Inventory – Once every two years, departments are asked to locate and report to Capital Asset Management all capital equipment assigned to their respective department.
  • Reports - Departmental Capital Asset reports are available via the Administrative tab within self-service under “PMO (Property Management)”
  • CBO's should be aware that additional policies and regulations apply to Federal Assets.
  • Title to Equipment – All equipment purchased is considered UI property unless otherwise noted.  For example, if a faculty member uses research support funding provided by the college to purchase a piece of equipment – that equipment is still the property of the UI, not the individual faculty member.
