University of Iowa

Associate Provost for Undergraduate Education and Dean of the University College

Faculty and Staff Colleagues:

I am pleased to announce that Lon Moeller, associate dean for the undergraduate program in the Tippie College of Business, has agreed to serve as the university's new associate provost for undergraduate education (APUE) and dean of the University College, effective July 1, 2014.  He will step into the position vacated by Beth Ingram, who recently accepted the position of provost at North Dakota State University.

As APUE and dean, Lon's mission will be to continue to enhance the excellence of undergraduate education at the University of Iowa, working closely with collegiate deans and DEOs.

Lon earned BBA, MBA, and JD degrees from the University of Iowa, and has served on the faculty of the College of Business since 1999.  He has been associate dean in Tippie's Undergraduate Program Office for the past five years.  His previous service to the university includes four years as faculty ombudsperson, and three years as co-director of the Larned A. Waterman Iowa Nonprofit Resource Center.

In his role as associate dean, Lon has proven himself to be an effective leader with a deep commitment to promoting the success of undergraduate students.  I know he will do an excellent job continuing and building on Beth's work on behalf UI students, and I am grateful to him for taking on this very important role.
