Associate Provost for Faculty

Tom Rice, associate provost for faculty and professor in CLAS, has announced that he will be leaving his position to assume the duties of a newly created position, faculty director of the University of Iowa’s John and Mary Pappajohn Educational Center in Des Moines.  In his new role, Tom will facilitate relationships between UI academic deans and their faculties and Des Moines area business and non-profit leaders with the dual goal of developing Des Moines-based educational programming and enhancing outreach assistance to Des Moines-based businesses and non-profits.  He will also assist the Office of Admissions with recruitment of students in the greater Des Moines area.

Tom has served as associate provost for faculty for four and a half years, and he has done so with dedication, thoughtfulness, and skill.  I would like to say “thank you” to Tom for his service and accomplishments on behalf of deans, DEOs, and the faculty.

Tom will continue to serve as associate provost for faculty until a successor is named and he or she has had orientation time with Tom.  You will receive an announcement about the search for his successor soon.
