Information for Faculty and Departments

The Provost has primary responsibility for matters related to faculty, including academic promotion and tenure decisions.  He or she delegates some of these responsibilities to the Associate Provost for Faculty.  

The Provost is also responsible for communicating with the Board of Regents, State of Iowa, regarding all academic matters--a responsibility that includes coordinating the submission of several annual governance reports related to faculty.

  • Faculty Handbook - Online handbook of policies, procedures, and regulations that apply to faculty appointments at The University of Iowa, as well as additional information about the University and its campus and surroundings that may be of use or interest to faculty.  Many of these same pages can be found in the University of Iowa Operations Manual, the Code of Student Life, relevant portions of the Policy Manual of the Board of Regents, State of Iowa, and the Code of Iowa.
  • Data and Reports - The Office of the Provost collects, analyzes, and reports to the Board of Regents, State of Iowa, and other internal and external constituencies on a wide range of institutional data, having to do with financial matters, faculty appointments, faculty activities, enrollment management, peer comparisons, etc.  Find links to selected data and reports on this page.
