Lecturer Appointment

Lecturers [F_ (H,V,A,C)1500] provide instructional and programmatic support.  Because these positions are primarily teaching appointments, a full-time lecturer will typically teach at a 50% greater load than regular faculty who teach, conduct research and provide other service.

These appointments range in length from one or two weeks, to a semester, or a year.  Although an individual's appointment as lecturer may be renewed for up to three years, University policy requires that the appointment be made for no more than one academic year at a time.  The initial offer may indicate the expectation that the appointment will be renewed for 3 years, assuming positive annual reviews.  Exceptions to the three year maximum must be approved by the Office of the Provost.

Appointments that are 50% time or more and extend for more than one year require an Equal Opportunity and Diversity search. The appointment form and attachments are routed in workflow from the Department to the Dean's Office to the Office of the Provost for electronic signature.
